On November 8, 2016, Nantucket voted yes to legalize recreational marijuana. Since then, there has been ongoing state-wide discussion about its laws and regulations.
On October 26, at 4:30 PM at the Public Safety Community Room, 4 Fairgrounds Road, the Town is sponsoring a Public Forum on the new law. A panel of speakers will include Town Counsel Attorneys John Giorgio and Katie Laughman from K-P Law, Chief of Police Bill Pittman, Health Director Roberto Santamaria, School Superintendent Michael Cozort, Human Services Director Rachel Day, Deputy Director of Planning Leslie Snell, ASAP's Drug Free Communities Program Executor Erin Schrader, and two members of the Board of Selectmen.
The public is encouraged to attend and ask questions, in advance of the November 6, 2017 Special Town Meeting, at which articles pertaining to retail marijuana will be acted upon.
