The Town Manager is appointed by the Board of Selectmen for a term of 3 years. The Town Manager has an employment contract with the Town (also approved by the Board of Selectmen) which generally runs concurrent to the 3 year term.
The Assistant Town Manager (ATM) acts as the Town Manager when that individual is absent. The ATM is often the “go to” person in Town government who relays items of importance to the Manager, facilitates projects and initiatives and has also recently been designated the lead person on the Town’s labor negotiations team.
In addition to the official Town website and the Town Manager's monthly e-newsletters, we are also developing Facebook and Twitter profiles to communicate important information to the community in real time. To communicate urgent notices and alerts, we generally use the News banner on the Town website, contact the Inquirer & Mirror to blast out an “Inky Alert,” provide interviews and announcements on WACK FM radio (97.7 FM) and/or utilize Channel 18 or Geno 99.
