Nantucket Island is the site of one of the Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) Project Centers. In the fall of 2008 and 2010, interdisciplinary teams of students have visited the island to conduct student research projects to study and report on issues of interest to the island. Professor Dominic Golding returned in the fall of 2011 with a new group of students who conducted six additional projects.
