Island and county wide resilience benefits the community through considered and thoughtful planning and design.
Plans such as the Hazard Mitigation Plan and Coastal Resilience Plan help us understand and deal with current and future risks for natural events from storms to sea level rise.
Localized plans like the Baxter Road Engineering Feasibility Assessment are a critical part of the Town's work to address and combat the ways in which climate change and sea level rise affect Nantucket. Public engagement is fundamental to the success of these plans. It helps us understand what is acceptable to the community. Volunteer groups such as the Coastal Resilience Advisory Committee and public presentations are integral and necessary parts of Community Resilience Planning.
