Nantucket Housing Authority

Its Mission

The Nantucket Housing Authority (NHA) is a public housing agency established in 1984 to provide and maintain affordable housing for low and moderate income persons pursuant to Mass. General Laws , Chapter 121B. 

The members of the Authority consist of five citizens of the community, four elected and the fifth appointed by the Governor of the Commonwealth. The Executive Director manages all Housing Authority properties. 

The NHA operates under the guidelines set by state and federal regulatory agencies including the Massachusetts Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) and USDA/Rural Development.

Our mission is to provide safe, decent and sanitary housing conditions for low to moderate income individuals and families, to promote affordable housing, to manage resources efficiently, and support and encourage the well-being and economic self-sufficiency of NHA residents.
