The purpose of the Surfside Road Area Sewer System Improvements project is to provide adequate capacity for the sewer system expansions for the needs areas identified in the 2014 Comprehensive Wastewater Management Plan (CWMP) Update. As part of the recently completed Sewer Master Plan, Weston & Sampson conducted a downstream capacity analysis of the existing collection system to identify where upgrades are needed. The project includes the construction of a new Surfside Road Pump Station to replace the existing undersized pump station and the construction of approximately 3,800 feet of gravity sewers tributary to the new pump station. This gravity sewer installation includes a new gravity main on Surfside Road from Vesper Lane to Miacomet Avenue, and a 250 foot stretch of new gravity sewer on Bartlett Road at the intersection of Surfside Road. The new Surfside Road Pump Station is under construction off Windy Way on a new parcel, subdivided off 57 Surfside Road. This parcel, which was acquired through a land swap with Keep on Trucking LLC, was approved at the 2020 Annual Town Meeting. The construction contract was awarded to Robert B. Our Company at the conclusion of a competitive bidding process. The new pump station and final connections to existing sewers within the roadways is expected to be completed in late Fall of 2022. Due to the significant traffic through this corridor, particularly during school drop off and pickup times, and with support by various Town departments, including Police, Fire, Town Administration, and Schools, the sewers in Surfside Road and Bartlett Road will be constructed in the evening hours between 4pm-2am, Monday through Thursdays. The Select Board has approved a waiver of the Town Noise Ordinance to allow the evening construction.
