Operations During Covid-19 Pandemic
The Tax Collectors office is now accepting requests for in-office appointments. These appointments are for taxpayers who we are unable to help via phone or email. In order to continue to keep the public and our staff safe appointments will be limited to one person. All persons will be required to wear a mask at all times, maintain social distancing and hand sanitize. These appointments are not intended for dropping off payments or obtaining receipts.
The Tax Collectors office will be available for pre-approved appointments on Monday afternoon 1-3, Tuesday morning 10-12, Thursday morning 10-12 and Friday afternoon 1-3.

Pay your real estate, personal property, and motor vehicle and boat excise tax bills online, or schedule automatic tax payments.
Fiscal Year 2021 second quarter tax bills are available
The first quarter preliminary real estate and personal property tax bills were mailed on July 1, 2020. They are due on August 3, 2020. The second quarter preliminary tax bills were issued on October 1, 2020 an will be due on November 2,2020. Preliminary tax bills generally represent one half of the prior years total tax. The tax rate and new assessed values will be set in December 2020 and will be reflected on the “actual” tax bill issued January 1, 2021.

Please call the Collector’s office if you do not receive not receive your bill – 508-228-7200 Option 2. All checks must be made payable to The Town of Nantucket. Altered checks will be returned to the maker. Please use only blue or black ink.
By state law, interest is charged on any and all late payments - even bills that have never been received.
Please notify us if your billing address has changed or if you are a new property owner.

Motor Vehicle Excise Tax Bill
All motor vehicle excise tax bill address changes must be made directly with the the Registry of Motor Vehicles. You can call them at 857-368-8000 or go to their website.
If you are using your bank’s online bill pay, you must indicate on your check the correct bill number, bill year and type of bill you are paying. If not included, we will no longer guarantee that your payment will be posted timely. If we are unable find the bill you are trying to pay, your payment will be returned to you.
Please note: Bill numbers change from year to year.
