15 Harbor Way & 40 Harbor Way (Playground)
Located within town, this beach is perfect for swimming given its calm location within Nantucket harbor. There is a ramp to the beach but it is intended more for pedestrians than wheelchairs and there is no accessible route to the beach itself. There is a paved walkway with 3 benches behind the beach area with the same view as the one on the beach. One should be aware that the walkway does have a small initial incline. There are also ramps to the accessible bathrooms and the cafe by the playground. Overall, this beach is moderately accessible to those with ambulatory concerns.
Playground
There are many components which focus on physical activity, and a few components which include sensory play. There are a few swings, one of which has a supportive back to it. However, this is only suited for very small children. There are various slides: one is part of the bigger structure that is more friendly to older children, and there is a smaller slide that is part of the smaller structure meant for younger children. The sensory play is an element in the smaller structure where children can use their sense of touch to feel the outline of the map of the United States. There are accessible ramps to the restrooms and a cafe very close the playground.
