In an effort to protect the public health of the island, Nantucket continues to implement the Town-wide per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) planning approach that was published on March 16, 2021. A copy of this PFAS Preliminary Assessment and Planning Approach Report is available here. A component of this Planning approach was to continue to collect samples from designated locations including the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP). The Town and contractors CDM Smith have collected waste stream samples for PFAS testing to better understand the sources and presence of these chemical compounds.
