New deadline for the US Census 2020 is October 31


On Friday, the Census Bureau announced that the new (reinstated) response deadline will be October 31.

The United States Census Bureau announced late Friday that its data collection operations will continue through October 31, 2020. The Federal government had tried to make the deadline Monday, October 5, but a US District Court judge ruled the Census Bureau was defying her orders to not rush the process. It’s critical that all remaining islanders get counted as soon as possible so Nantucket gets the funding we deserve for vital programs and services and the representation we need to make sure our voices are heard in Congress and in the Electoral College process.
