Construction of Waitt Drive Begins on May 10 at 8 AM

The Town of Nantucket DPW will begin construction of Waitt Drive Improvements on or after May 10, 2021 starting at 8 AM and is expected to be completed by December 31, 2021, weather permitting.

The Nantucket Department of Public Works (DPW) is committed to providing well-constructed, assessible, and historically sensitive construction improvements to its residents and visitors island-wide. DPW and its Contractor (C.C. Construction) will be initially installing a bus stop pull off and sidewalk connection to Fairgrounds Road from the driveway of the municipal Planning and Land Use Services (PLUS) facility at 2 Fairgrounds Road off Old South Road along with new water, sewer, and drainage connections. Once this early portion of the project is completed (before summer), the Contractor will focus on the construction of Waitt Drive from Ticcoma Way through to Amelia Drive. This work is expected to continue through summer and fall and be completed by the end of the calendar year.

Residents, businesses, and their customers should expect limited disruption along their frontage and will have access during construction. On-street parking on portions of Amelia Drive may be temporarily disrupted or occupied by construction vehicles during this necessary Construction. We appreciate your patience while we improve this important facility. Please contact the DPW Office at (508) 228-7200 x 0 if you have questions.
