The Town of Nantucket recognizes that climate change and rising sea levels pose a significant and increasing threat to Nantucket. We are actively working and preparing for the short and long term effects that climate change will have on our island.
Now jointly, the Coastal Resilience Advisory Committee and ACKlimate call upon the SelectBoard to proclaim September 2021 “Climate Change Awareness Month” for the Town ofNantucket.
“We, the Select Board of the Town of Nantucket in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, do hereby officially proclaim the month of September, 2021, is ‘Climate Change Awareness Month’ and do hereby encourage all residents to learn more about the threats of climate change and sea level rise and the planning efforts underway to increase community resilience.”
The Coastal Resilience Advisory Committee meets on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month at 10:00 am via Zoom.
ACKlimate Nantucket's mission is to support innovation and adaptation for the Nantucket community, and share the Nantucket model to help other historic coastal communities in the hopes of creating a more resilient future for all.
