The Nantucket Police Department, an organization dedicated to serving all individuals within the Town and County of Nantucket with respect, fairness, and compassion, is preparing for the forthcoming retirement of Police Chief William Pittman after 18 years of serving the Town of Nantucket. Chief Pittman's tenure has been defined by steadfast dedication to crime prevention, safeguarding lives and property, and maintaining peace, order, and safety on the island.
To ensure the seamless transition and continued effective leadership within the Nantucket Police Department, the Town Manager has established a Police Chief search group that includes Town Manager C. Elizabeth Gibson, Assistant Town Manager Rick Sears, DEI Director Kimal McCarthy, Select Board member Brooke Mohr and Sindy Rivera, a local citizen. To complement the search group and provide deep subject matter and process expertise, the Town has engaged the services of Public Safety Consultants, LLC a firm that specializes in comprehensive consultation, and recruitment of public safety personnel.
Your voice matters, and the Town seeks your insights regarding the experience, qualities, and skills the next Police Chief should possess. Your input will play an important role in selecting a qualified candidate who embodies the values and vision of the Nantucket Police Department.
The Town is committed to providing housing assistance. If you have available housing options, we kindly request that you contact us at hr@nantucket-ma.gov to discuss potential opportunities.
