Safety

Traffic control plans should be developed in accordance with the guidelines provided by the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT). Proper traffic control measures must be implemented to protect both workers and motorists.

This includes:

  • Setting up appropriate signage, barricades, cones, and flaggers to guide traffic safely through the construction zone. Please follow all safety regulations and guidelines in the construction zone.
  • Install clear and accurate signs to inform the public of ongoing construction work.
  • Provide advanced notice of construction zones to allow drivers ample time to react.
  • List detours and alternative routes, if necessary, to minimize traffic disruptions.
  • Ensure that the signage is spaced according to work zone safety regulations for maximum visibility and effectiveness.
